The Yamaska Literacy Council (YLC)… maybe you remember our early days as the Townshippers Reading Council?… is in its 40th year of providing community-based literacy programming in Brome-Missisquoi & Haute-Yamaska. Happy Birthday to us!
This landmark is a cause for celebration for all the volunteers, tutors, families and lifelong learners who have played a part in YLC’s story. As a record of this community engagement, YLC will be preparing a short video in the style of the popular “Heritage Minutes”. We are encouraging people who have been involved with YLC over the years to reach out and share a memory, giving one or two specific examples in response to the question “What positive impact has Yamaska Literacy Council made in your life?” If you have something to share, please reach out to Bishop’s University student, Jennifer Fawcett, at [email protected], as she is collecting contributions to create the video. Keep an eye out for more of our projects over the summer! Surely, cake will follow!
Since 1981, the Yamaska Literacy Council (YLC) has provided literacy services in Brome-Missisquoi & Haute-Yamaska, as part of a global movement to address literacy challenges through volunteer action.
