The YLC library is named the “Freda Hudson Reading Room” in honour of a remarkable volunteer who made a significant contribution to literacy.

Freda Hudson was a pioneer in the publishing industry of Canadian-content literacy materials. Our library includes materials she wrote, edited and published. Freda  was a tutor and a director of YLC. She helped her student write “A Rose of Courage”, the story of her mother’s life, which can be borrowed from our library.

“Now I can go around the world in a book. I travel so much in books and every time I do I think of Freda.” Trudi.
