Since 1981, the Yamaska Literacy Council (YLC) has provided literacy services in Brome-Missisquoi & Haute-Yamaska, as part of a global movement to address literacy challenges through volunteer action.
This 40th anniversary landmark is a cause for celebration for all of the volunteers, tutors, families and lifelong learners who have played a part in YLC’s story. As a record of this community engagement, YLC launches a short video in the style of the popular “Heritage Minute”.
Introducing Jennifer Fawcett (right)
Jennifer sifted through the YLC archives, talked with YLC members and then set about to create:
- The Heritage Moment video
- A guest appearance on Literacy Quebec’s podcast “What’s literacy got to do with it?”
- A full feature article in the Brome County News
- A selection of social media images to highlight YLC’s history on YLC’s Facebook page.
Happy 40th Birthday Yamaska Literacy!
and a BIG thank you to Jennifer for sharing her skills and passion with us!
