Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27, with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in fun literacy-based activities as a family. Reading or doing a learning activity each day improves a child’s literacy skills dramatically.
Parents’ reading habits play a large role in determining how often kids read: 57% of kids who are frequent readers have parents who read books 5–7 days per week, compared to only 15% of kids who are infrequent readers. Kids and Family Reading Report – Scholastic, 2017
The theme this year is “Learn to be Green, Together”
The Yamaska Literacy Council is hosting 2 FREE events. Registration is required.
Waterloo: Saturday January 25, 10 am – 1pm.
Cowansville: Sunday Jauary 26, 12noon – 2pm
