September 14-21 is Canada’s Democracy Week, and the theme is “Let’s Get Ready to Vote”.
Civic literacy is the knowledge and skills you need to participate in making change in your community. In Canada, this includes voting. The voting process can be complicated, especially for someone who is voting for the first time, and/or has difficulty with the printed word.
ABC Life Literacy Canada has partnered with Elections Canada to create A Guide to Voting: A Literacy Practitioner Workbook for Voting in the 2015 Federal Election. You can download it at www.abclifeliteracy.ca/civic-literacy (or contact YLC for a free printed copy at 450-263-7503 or 866-337-7503 or firstname.lastname@example.org)
“Get ready to vote…and make your voice heard on October 19th!”
